Very few of us have ever done anything worthwhile in life without inspiration. Through inspiration, everyone who has ever crossed a finishing line or a achieved a previously-thought-impossible dream makes it easier for those still pursuing their dreams to do the same. I am very aware of the helping hands of inspiration I have received in my own life, and this website is hopefully some way of beginning to repay that debt.

As you may have noticed, a goodly portion of this site is given over to spirituality and the inner quest for meaning and purpose. I remember talking to an uncle of mine who had gone over to Thailand to lend his construction skills to help with the aftermath of the tsunami, and had spent quite a while amongst Thailand’s Muslim community. ‘People talk about being a Christian. But sure who here’s a Christian anymore?‘, he said, gesturing towards the crowded room where post-Catholic Ireland was busy doing what it does best these days, partying away into the small hours - ‘If you ask me, a Christian is a good living person, who looks after his neighbour and tries to to the right thing. And I’ll tell you, those Muslims were better Christians then a lot of people who say they're Christian.’

That somehow kind of sums up my view of spirituality. To me, spirituality is not about loud professions of dogma, but rather quietly doing the right thing, giving what one has and is to make it the world a better place. Over the years I have gained inner inspiration from people of all religions and also people who avowedly shun any religion, but whose conduct nonetheless reflects the highest of spiritual ideals. And hopefully I’ll get to share some of this inspiration to you on this site.

I do quite a lot of running and play the flute and harmonium, so you might hear a little bit about that on my blog. I also work as a maths teacher, and occasionally have answers to problems I couldnt find on the web, so they might end up here too for the lack of anywhere else to put them.
